Bron from Canberra, AustraliaAnother fabulous shot Mary! Yes the towns(?) are Rugeley, Blithfield, Swynnerton and the house at Blithfield - it belonged to a rather quaintly named set of great grans called Bagot!! I have no idea where they are except in county Staff - so they're probably far away from you. Interesting though :) 19 Sep 2007 8:43am @Bron: OMG Bron! I live not far away from these places, Rugeley is market town and about 8 or 9 miles away, Blithfield is a little further and has the most beautiful scenery http://www.south-staffs-water.co.uk/community/blithfield.asp The causeway across the res is a mile long. And you'll never guess but the Bagot family still own Blithfield hall! Babul Bhatt from Bombay, Indiaawesome close-up Mary... are you gonna get any closer? 19 Sep 2007 10:42am @Babul Bhatt: That's as close as I got Babul, they were really amazing! @Organik: Thank you OM, I'm hoping next time to take the safari bus around the park, they go off road and get really close, now that will be exciting! Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaAhh pretty pussycat, I'll stay away I promise. Great Shot MaryB ;) 19 Sep 2007 11:00am @Lorraine: You know Lorraine, they wern't botherd in the least by all the cars going around the park, they were really happy lying in the sun, lucky for us they chose to nap on the platforms so we could see them. @Harald: Thank you Harald, I was really happy to get this shot, it made my day :) @jen: Thanks Jen, we had to wait in line for a while to get a shot this close but it was worth the wait :) @badala: Thank you badala for your lovely comments and your visits, I really appreciate them :) @Images by KC Photography: Thank you KC, he was a beautiful beast! :) @HorseRotorVator: Wow! thank you HRV your very kind :) Viewfinder from Bradenton, United States"Let sleeping tigers lie..." 19 Sep 2007 3:59pm @Viewfinder: Awww! Michael from Wuppertal, GermanyThis one´s really cute and stunning shot! Where did you made it? 19 Sep 2007 7:20pm @Michael: Thank you Michael, I took this at the West Midlands Safari Park, UK Ken McCoy from Orlando-Daytona Beach, FL, United StatesBeautiful wildlife (or zoo-life) photo! 19 Sep 2007 7:25pm @Ken McCoy: Thank you Ken, it is a zoo of sorts and although the lions tigers etc are enclosed we were able to drive through the large areas of the park where they live, other animals such as deer, zebra and rhino all roam freely to in their large area, there are plenty of rangers on site in vehicles to keep order! it's an up close and personal type of park. No fences between you and the animals. Just your car. Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomWow, another absolutely altogether gorgeous macro, Mary!! Such a magnificent creature & captured in such alert stillness!! You are truly very brave. :) 19 Sep 2007 7:40pm @Rebecca: Oh Rebecca your kind comments warm my heart thank you, it was a very exciting day, to be up close to these animals with no fence just the car between us and them! Bron from Canberra, AustraliaWow Mary I can't believe it! Fancy the old rellies still in the house - how strange. My 14x great grandfather lived there born abt 1461 d 1534 I have a brass rubbing picture of him. His name at the time was spelt Sir Loys Bagot,(!!) but he was Lewis I think. I'm descended from his daughter Jane. Have you ever seen the house? this is spooky!! cheers Bron 19 Sep 2007 10:15pm @Bron: You can just about see the house through the trees from the road, How amazing is this! it's so exciting, @Tse Min: Thank you for your visit and very kind comment Tse Min :) Rob from Velveetaville, United StatesBeautiful portrait of this wonderful animal MB! 20 Sep 2007 12:06am @Rob: Thank you Rob, he was an amazing animal! Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesHe and the Lion from yesterday are truly magnificent creatures --and I'm a dog lover. 20 Sep 2007 4:17am @Twelvebit: Thank you Twelvebit! they were truly amazing to see :) Bron from Canberra, AustraliaHeavens to betsy Mary!!! What a shame my branch of the family married into no money! haha This isn't a house - it's a mansion! Thanks for the link to the Bagot message site - I'm amazed. I've researched a lot of the tree - Jane Bagot's dau Ellen Thirkell married Rowland Rugeley in about 1533 and that name stayed in my line until 1719 when Frances Rugeley married a Wagstaff from Bedfordshire. That name was the main line until my Great great Grandmum Hannah Wagstaff married and ran away to Oz in 1855! She was, according to legend, taken firmly out of the will! I think she must have really loved her husband!! He was a widower with a small child. Not at all suitable.... The first Bagot was recorded in 1086 I think... 20 Sep 2007 7:02am @Bron: This is all really exciting! there is also a hall at Swynerton, which I think you mentioned. If we have the time we might be able to go for a drive that way on Sunday, although the weather forcast doesn't look too good. @jelb: Thank you jelb :) Bron from Canberra, AustraliaWhat a beautiful picture Mary! Thanks you. So amazing to think my ancestors lived there. Don't go out in the nasty weather for me!! Please wait until it's fine and pleasant :) 21 Sep 2007 1:01am Bron from Canberra, Australiahttp://www.mbs-brasses.co.uk/pic_lib/Blithfield_Brass.htm 21 Sep 2007 1:08am |
