The weather here atm is cold and very windy, so I didn't venture far with my new cam. So I was really pleased to see Max, who in turn was really pleased to see me, he wanted food and I needed a photo to post today :) He was waiting to pounce behind a neigbours wall as I walked up the lane, so I knelt down to be at the same level, every so often he would pop his head around the wall looking for me lol :D
I'm quite pleased with the out come of this although I'm not sure about the cropping, I tried every which way but this is the best I could come up with.
Any tips or constructive criticism are welcome :)
I really appreciate all your comments, thank you so much. I'm only sorry I've not got time to respond. I do read all the comments and will try to answer any questions you have about my posts :)

Great shot Mary, looks very similar to our now departed cat Felix, same green eyes and white/pink snout. You did well with your first dslr shot, how are you finding it. Did you play around with the iso speed or was it on auto. You asked about Freda's Grave (Brocton Coppice), yes I think that is where it is, we have been looking for Freda's Grave for a while and I did not know it was there, is there a marker for it and do you know the story surrounding it. Bye for now
26 Feb 2008 3:21am
@Peter Miller: Cheers Peter, I've not played around with the manual setting yet, I've tried the P, macro, auto and the sports setting. I'm not sure wether this was on the auto or the p setting tbh. I'm steadly working my way through the settings. On the subject of Freda's grave, there is a marker, not found it yet though. She was a Dalmation dog who was a mascot of the New Zealand Rifles who were stationed at Brockton, she died in 1918. Her collar and lead are kept in a millitary museum in NZ.
Thats a sneaky cat.

How nice of Max to cooperate with you and your new camera. Cropping, IMO, is perfect. He is projecting such a "cat" personality, and the colors of the brick and Max just seem to sing together.
26 Feb 2008 7:23am
awesome photo and I think the cropping is just fine

Lot's of comments for a wonderful picture. I love the composition and the colors contrast. A beautiful cat!

A very beautiful capture indeed. I love the B&W cat against the red brick. If you are concerned about cropping to fit after posting, perhaps a little off of the top and bottom will do. But it is fine just the way it is.
My karma is really working for me today. Thank you so much for pointing out my featured photo Victoria Agave on AM3 homepage for today. I was VERY surprised. I appreciate your comment as well. I also have a black and white cat just as beautiful as Max, white whiskers and all. Wonderful.
