Any tips or constructive criticism are welcome :)

Glad to hear you feel better ;) Love the textures and tones, wonderful horizon curve...

Hello MaryB you are also good on taking snapshots ;). In our province Friesland we also have these boats driven by solar energy to take away all engine noise, tourists can rent them. The ideal vehicle for enjoying nature! I like the red color BTW.

ah it's so blue and wonderful, love the action, nice to have you back MaryB, glad you're better ;)

Glad to hear u r better, Nice shot and good composition, but I think the saturation is too high, specially for RED and BLUE ;)
10 Mar 2008 5:56am
@Shaahin: Thank you for your good wishes :) And I totally agree with you on the saturation, I tried to reduce it as the colours were so vivid! I could have had the saturation setting on the camera set to enhance, as I had been playing around with the controls trying to familiarise myself with them (only had cam a few days when I took this) but I'm sure it was on Auto as I was only trying other settings :)
Hi Mary, I had a few days off but I am back now. I have been looking through your impressive portfolio though. Great shot Mary, I too take a lot of canal shots preferring the early spring and summer. It sure looks cold on this day. Good old Staffs (the creative county)
nice & vivid photo .. very interesting shot ! .. thanks.

Great capture MB... you can imagine what the two men are saying and that makes this stand out to me.
Been scanning your postings... man am I behind. You keep improving and evolving in your photography that's for sure.
Cheers,
Rob

Great composition in this image, and the colors are very bright. The sky is a little washed out - a little color there would have balanced the great green and blue of the grass and water. This reminds me of the river boats when I visited my Grandmother in Guildford years ago....

I like the colors in this shot. So alive and vibrant. And glad you are back and feeling well ;)

Glad you're feeling better, I collapsed three weeks ago and that wasn't funny either! This boat ride looks like fun :-)

@MadScientist: Thanks MS, hope your feeling better now too :) The canals are a beautiful place to go for a relaxing walk, they are so peaceful.
Nice one! Thanks for identifying the Emu for me! I've added the info, thanks!

Welcome back really. The colours in this one are a bit weird, looks like a nice spot though!
10 Mar 2008 12:15pm
@DaveB: Thanks Dave, I'm trying to figure out why only the photo's with the narrowboats in had this strange over saturated colour. Non of the other shot's I took turned out like this. The sun was very bright when it came out and the boats looked as if they had been freshly painted. Tommorow's post is of more narrowboats and that has turned out bright too!
It is a great spot, we have some lovely canals here in Staffordshire. :)
it's really sopft shot! lovely colors!

nice shot. good composition & good contrast

Call me crazy (and many do LOL) but I like the way you've saturated this one. Great comp with the boat sliding through the water with the trees to right... gives it good scale and depth.
10 Mar 2008 2:57pm
@amy: Thanks Amy, but I really thought the colour on my monitor had gone crazy when I first saw this shot, I've actually tried to dum down the colours, they more than popped in the original shot LOL. I've checked the cam to see if I had the saturation setting on enhance but no! it's only happend in the photo's I took on that day and only the ones with the Narrow boats on, it's really odd :)
Very nice!

Beautiful and colourful picture. I like the perspective!
10 Mar 2008 3:58pm
The colours look fine on my laptop Mary, and its difficult to predict how it would look on anyones machine but your own. Those brave souls out on a narrowboat in March....... Mine is tied up on the Trent in Newark, and I'm not going anywhere till its warmer..

Very photogenic canal, must be fun to roam in these colorful boats!
