This is a reproduction of a medieval holy water font, that hangs on the black wall in my sitting room at home.
Sir Arthur C. Clarke, the great writer who was well-known for his science fictions around the world, died on Marth 19th at the age of 90. Sir Arthur believed that we live in a world where anything is possible. He brought us images from the future, took us beyond our small world, and made us believe that imaginations can easily become reality. His three laws were, and still are: 1. "When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong." 2. "The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible." 3. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
I would like to dedicate a day, let's say the last day of this month March 31th, to his memory, so I decided to suggest a theme for the day.
** Clarke's Day ** Dare to dream, let your imagination run wild, show us that impossible is merely a word in the dictionary. Take an element from his dreams, or yours, and make a picture. It can simply be a sign with the number 2001 on it or a picture of a UFO, but I'm not suggesting anything. It's up to you, my friend.

Really nice lighting and composition, Mary. The color is also very pleasing.

I love the contrast of colors from being moderately light on one side to dark on the other.

Love the tones and the whole shape, very pleasing! It's very sad that A. C. Clarke is gone. Most 'visionaries' of today are without imagination or are just businessmen who never will reach this last real freethinker.

Beautiful lighting, here, MaryB. I love the deep shadow on the right…as if its emerging from the darkness. Beautifully composed and captured. A beautiful image in these darkest days of Lent.

@Richard_Irwin: Thank you Richard, I wish I could take the credit for this great Idea but it was Behrooz, bsuprised.aminus3.com, who thought of it, I can't highlight on my blog atm, so perhaps it wasn't too clear that, it was his Idea and not mine :)
Wonderful composition. I like the warm lighting!
