A Big thank you to everyone for the comments on yesterday's post, if I didn't catch up with you all I will today :)
Although the title of this suggests that this bird was alone, in truth I had to crop to eliminate the various waterfowl that were in the water. Really pleased to have got this, it is the first bird I've managed to get in flight without too much blur :)
It might be best to view this large :)
Any tips or constructive criticism are welcome :)
I really appreciate all your comments, thank you so much. I'm only sorry I've not got time to respond. I do read all the comments and will try to answer any questions you have about my posts :)
Fantastic composition! The colors are gorgeous! Very well done!

I love the composition and how the cropping frames the bird.
3 Apr 2008 7:08am
You managed this capture very well, Mary! The bird is at its best with the wings spread almost artistically and on its way to get into the blue to become one with it!

Hey MaryB..small world ,pal...I've been sitting in the garden this evening waiting for some wood pigeons to land in a tree...I tried to take them in flight, but to no avail they were too quick for me,I did a few burst shots, but they were no good also...so,I admire this shot for the skill it takes to get it....nice job, pal..... b.t.w. have you seen Gavin and Stacey on B.B.C.3 at all..??.....it's filmed entirely in Barry and a lot of scenes take place in Whitmore Bay(your maiden name's sake,if I remember)..take a peek,pal... BillyB.....

I'm not a fan of BIF shots if I'm honest but I love the angle you have captured this at and it is beautifully sharp. Well done!

How beautiful these common birds always are!
4 Apr 2008 5:15am
BTW I broke my head about what BIF means - another jargon abbreviation needed to know to keep up with the craft? - and then I realized it meant "Birds in Flight", well, I'm a fan of it.
