Well, I had intended to catch up with everyone's blogs this weekend but the weather here has been amazing around the 30 degree mark, I've spent the weekend gardening and painting our garden furniture. It's been too nice to stay indoors. So I'll have some catching up to do :)
This little dandilion was found floating in a pool at Sandwell Valley Park UK.
Any tips or constructive criticism are welcome :)
I really appreciate all your comments, thank you so much. I'm only sorry I've not got time to respond. I do read all the comments and will try to answer any questions you have about my posts :)

What an artistic touch, desaturated background, very nice Mary. Looks like the good weather will continue this week. :)

Beautiful.. I like the contrast between the subject and the background. The water is so still, it looks like the flower is floating in the breeze! :)

An island of yellow beauty in a sea of tranquility ... very nice!

Perfect just to leave the flower with that beautiful yellow against a monochrome background. Excellent composition and use of space within the frame.

A picture like a poem, nothing can be added.

Wow MB, I love this. Not a big fan of this post processing technique usually but this really works.
Thanks,
Rob

Nice work.
Outstanding choice to selectively color this image; the dandelion's yellow is so brilliantly displayed.

awsome, awsome!! simple yet powerful!

very nice photoshopping ...makes that little dandelion just pop.

Great shot mary, very effective, i think i would of kept the stem the original colour as well but thats just me
12 May 2008 10:32am
@Peter Miller: Thanks Peter, that was my intention to keep the stem the original colour, but I was so late processing and posting (around the 2.20 am mark) that i missed it out! lol.
This is a beautiful image. I think the yellow/black contrast is incredibly striking - well done!

Not a particularly sharp shot, but the selective colouring is cool. Or was the water just really murky?
12 May 2008 1:12pm
Wonderful processing, a very effective shot.
12 May 2008 2:22pm
Good idea this contrast between black and only yellow flower and it's good position in the picture but i like also the drawing of reflecting blades of grass.
12 May 2008 2:33pm
Marvelous image and I love the selective coloring! Well done! =-)
12 May 2008 2:39pm
Absolutely PERFECT with the selective colouring, Mary!!

I like how you can see the continuation of the stem below the water. I hope that 30 degree mark you speak of is in Celsius. ;-)

I love shots like this! That pop of color is one of my favorite styles and what a nice job you did here! So subtle and delicate and your compositions are just fabulous.
