Colourful Stavanger.
Posted by MaryB (Staffordshire, United Kingdom) on 25 August 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.
Our first port of call was Stavanger in Norway, which gave us a colourful but very wet welcome.
From the ships log.
Stavanger (old Norse "Stafangr" which means Staff-fjord) was founded in the year 1125. Once landfall was made the local Pilot embarked at 0554 and we commenced our passage through the Byfjorden. After manoeuvring through the harbour, the captain swung the ship 180deg before coming astern into the berth. First lines ashore were sent just after 0758 and Artemis was all-fast by 0808.
