Clouds and sunshine.

Posted by

I've photographed in snow before, but this was a real challenge. The sky over the mountains was cloudy and the sun was shining from the other direction and there was this haze which was very strange to say the least.

From the Ships log.

Sunday 10th August 2008
Ny-Alesund, anchorage/drifting.
At 0448 we entered Fuglehukflaket and began the approach to Ny-Alesund through Kongsfjorden. The Ice Pilot, who had remained onboard from Trondheim was called at 0500 to advise on the entry into Ny-Alesund and to guide us to our anchorage. The port anchor was let go at 0758 and tenders lowered ready to ferry passengers ashore. The Captain decided to heave up the anchor at 0839 and drift due to a large number of icebergs floating in the area.

Continued tomorrow.
